About Alan Quilley, CRSP – Founder of Safety Results Ltd.

Alan Quilley was more than a safety professional. He was a teacher, mentor, thought-provoker and change-maker who inspired a generation of occupational health & safety practitioners across Canada and beyond.

Although Alan passed away in 2021, his vision for practical, real-world safety excellence continues through Safety Results Ltd., guided by his wife and business partner, Marie Quilley. His ideas, training methods and published works remain the cornerstone of everything we do.

A Life Devoted to Safety

Alan’s career in occupational health and safety began in the mid-1970s, when he joined CN Rail as a Safety Coordinator. Over the next four decades, he led large safety programs in industries ranging from oil & gas and petrochemical to municipal services, construction, police and fire.

He didn’t just manage safety, he lived it. Alan was known for translating complex regulatory requirements into plain, practical action that made sense to front-line workers and executives alike.

Educator, Author & Mentor

Driven to share his knowledge, Alan taught safety management at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and the University of Alberta. He mentored hundreds of students and professionals preparing for CRSP and CRST certification, as well as leadership roles.

Alan published several highly respected books, devoted to Occupational Health and Safety. Each book reflects his belief that safety must be about people, not paperwork.

A Lasting Legacy

Even while facing serious illness in 2020, Alan remained committed to his profession, completing updates to the CRSP and CRST Exam Preparation study materials and mentoring clients until shortly before his passing.

Today, Marie continues his mission at Safety Results Ltd., offering CRSP and CRST study preparation materials and Virtual Coaching packages that continue to uphold Alan’s high standards of quality and integrity.
